About the Role
We are looking for someone to help us tell our story in consistent and compelling ways across print and digital platforms. The Communications and Marketing Manager will oversee our communications strategy end to end, from planning through execution, working closely with clergy, staff, and lay leadership to promote synagogue events, strengthen member engagement, and enhance our public presence.
This role is about more than posting online, it’s about helping us shape how our community is seen, heard, and understood. We are looking for someone who can bring creativity and attention to detail in how we execute a communications strategy through engaging emails, compelling visuals, and a stronger social media presence. The ideal candidate will be proactive in suggesting content ideas, experimenting with formats like video or stories, and finding new ways to highlight the energy of TKE’s events and community life.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and drive TKE’s overall communications strategy across print, digital, and social platforms
Create and schedule TKE’s weekly email newsletter (Tekiah) in ShulCloud
Design event graphics and flyers for both digital and print use
Manage the synagogue’s social media presence (primarily Facebook and Instagram)
Curate or draft content for posts and stories, with an eye toward audience engagement
Maintain consistent branding, tone, and visual identity across platforms
Collaborate with clergy and staff to develop communications that reflect synagogue values and programming priorities
Manage the synagogue website, keeping content current, accurate, and on-brand
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree and two to three years of experience in communications, marketing, or digital media
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Proficient computer skills on Mac and PC platforms, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Experience with email marketing platforms and social media management tools
Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Express
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
Understanding of Jewish culture or synagogue life
Experience with platforms like ShulCloud, Meta Business Suite, or Monday.com
An eye for visual storytelling, including photography or video creation
Knowledge of engagement metrics and how to use them to refine communications
