Job description

What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities include:

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations.
Diagnose and treat psychiatric and substance use disorders across the lifespan.
Assess suicide risk, homicide risk, and other behavioral health safety concerns.
Develop differential diagnoses using DSM-5-TR criteria.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications within scope of practice.
Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient adherence.
Provide medication education to patients and families.
Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
Coordinate care with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and specialty providers.
Refer patients to higher levels of behavioral health care when clinically appropriate.
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and case consultations.
Support care coordination for patients with complex behavioral health and medical needs.
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and recovery goals.
Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in Epic.
Participate in quality improvement, peer review, department meetings, and organizational initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
Current Ohio Registered Nurse license
Current Ohio Certificate of Authority
Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority
Current BLS certification
Eligibility for credentialing and privileging
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of psychiatric prescribing experience
Experience working in integrated behavioral health, primary care, community mental health, or an FQHC
Experience with Epic electronic health record
Experience caring for underserved populations
