Job description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generate attorney-edited changes on monthly proformas/pre-bills for multiple offices.
Maintain extreme awareness of special billing instructions and rate exceptions.
Complete all tasks necessary to generate client invoices.
Troubleshoot issues that arise when utilizing Aderant.
Prepare and send the edited invoices to the legal administrative assistants.
Support and provide ad hoc reports, detail summaries to Legal Staff, and pull and assist with monthly proforma and invoices.
Apply invoice discounts as they apply.
Process WIP write/downs with appropriate approvals.
Apply unallocated funds with attorney direction.
Field emails from attorneys and LAAs requesting various changes to existing invoices and creating additional invoices as needed.
Complete billing for all assigned attorneys ensuring there are no delays for prebilling in the next cycle.
Apply trust funds with attorney direction.
Responsible for assisting attorneys and legal support staff with internal/external client requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area of business preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3+ years of legal billing experience preferred.
Systems and Technical Proficiency: Experience with Elite Enterprise, Aderant 8.2 and Thomson Elite eBILLINGHUB software preferred.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, required.
Organization and Independence: Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy workload to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Communication and Interpersonal: Excellent written and verbal skills in order to provide professional, efficient customer service functions.
Ability to grasp new concepts in a timely manner and teach them to others as needed.
License: Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical: Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve the need for inter-office mobility for brief periods of time.
Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs.
Communication: Ability to efficiently communicate.
Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform repetitive motions.
Visual: Ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or standard size print.
