Job Summary:

The Senior Billing/AR Specialist is responsible for accurate claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up to ensure timely reimbursement for behavioral health services. This role supports daily billing operations and works closely with internal teams and insurance payors to resolve billing issues.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
1–3 years of medical billing experience preferred.
Behavioral health billing experience a plus.
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance billing processes.
Experience with electronic billing systems and EHRs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Submit clean claims to commercial and government payors.
Review and correct claim rejections and denials.
Post insurance payments and adjustments accurately.
Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
Review explanations of benefits and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate billing documentation and records.
Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status.
Collaborate with admissions, utilization review, and clinical teams as needed.
Ensure compliance with billing regulations and organizational policies.
Assist with audits and reporting as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Standing, sitting, bending, reaching.
Must be able to see, hear, talk, read, write, type.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Driving in all weather conditions.
