Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Work alongside managing directors, directors, and vice presidents in ECM Origination and across sector coverage groups.
Participate in the marketing of all Equity Syndicate transactions, set up and manage each transaction in dedicated syndicate software.
Build relationships with internal and external clients across Investment Banking, Institutional Sales, and peer investment banks.
Research current and prospective client companies, comparable companies and transactions, and potential institutional investors.
Monitor and research capital markets and update client and equity databases.
Track capital markets trends including industry/sector holding trends and deal participation trends.
Build and audit fully integrated financial models including IPO and comparable company trading and valuation analyses.
Support ECM Origination and sector coverage groups in preparing commitment committee, filing, and selling memorandums, and investor targeting materials.
Work alongside ECM Origination, Institutional Sales & Trading, and Research during offering execution process to coordinate feedback on deal messaging, company peers, and the capital markets broadly.
Compile and prepare appropriate marketing materials detailing the William Blair ECM perspective and recommendation on the capital markets, and highlighting William Blair’s equity and distribution platform.
Prepare and supervise external marketing initiatives which include both weekly and quarterly publications.
Seek opportunities to streamline processes and propose solutions to complete tasks more efficiently.
Develop an understanding of macro factors related to client industry, investment banking products and potential implications.
Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required
One to three years of experience in equity capital markets, equity research, equity sales & trading, investment banking, wealth management, or other deal structured environment required
Proven track record in university studies required
SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment
Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills
Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Strong desire to win
Developing increasingly sound judgement
Thorough understanding of accounting and finance
Commitment to satisfying internal and external customers
Travel required: approximately 5%
