Physician Assistant – Inpatient Medicine/Psych

As a Physician Assistant on our Inpatient Med-Psych service, you will work alongside psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex psychiatric and medical needs. You will be a valued clinical partner, contributing your expertise to improve patient outcomes while supporting patients and families through every stage of care.

About the Role
The Department of Psychiatry is proud to support a state-of-the-art, 24-bed inpatient psychiatry unit that includes four higher-acuity medical-psychiatric beds. This unique service is designed to care for patients with coexisting psychiatric and medical conditions, providing an integrated approach to treatment.

In this role, you will provide 24-hour coverage in collaboration with the care team and manage all aspects of inpatient medical care, including:

Conducting daily patient rounds with the psychiatry team
Evaluating and managing acute and chronic medical conditions
Documenting patient care and treatment plans
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
Responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies on the unit
Coordinating consults with specialty services
Managing admissions, transfers, and discharges
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, high-quality care

Preferred Qualifications
1–2 years of Physician Assistant experience in hospital medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, or a related inpatient setting

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Current New York State Physician Assistant license
NCCPA certification
BLS and ACLS certifications
New York State Infection Control Certification
DEA registration with compliance for New York State Opioid Prescriber Training requirements
