Job description
Examples of Duties
– Perform preventative maintenance inspections and address deficiencies before they become major repairs.
– Repair and maintain various amenities of City parks and public properties through a program of routine maintenance and inspections based on all applicable standards and codes. Typical examples of work include, but are not limited to the repair, maintenance and installation of fencing, asphalt, concrete, signs and signposts.
– Assist other Divisions with various tasks as needed. This includes but is not limited to general maintenance and cleaning of parks grounds and buildings, tree and landscape trimming and maintenance, painting, plumbing, pressure cleaning, irrigation repairs, repair and maintenance of playground equipment, wind screen and netting installation, maintain lighting fixtures and replacing non-electrical components, assembly and installation of amenities like benches, picnic tables trash receptacles, and office furniture.
– Operates, maintains and services equipment including, but not limited to, aerial lifts, chainsaws, power pruners, brush chippers, loader or combination units, skid steer loaders, stump grinder, dump trucks, vehicle/trailer combinations, pressure washers, and other tools and equipment related to the job.
– Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations and of effective precautionary measures necessary to avoid accidents.
– Knowledge of the hazards involved in the use of equipment, tools, and of the safety precautions that need to be taken.
– Knowledge of setting up and maintaining Temporary Traffic Control devices and work zones.
– Ability to understand, follow and carry out oral and written instructions related to maintenance operations.
– Complete assignments in a safe and timely manner, meeting quality standards.
– Continue development of jobs skills and knowledge related to tree care maintenance through various training programs.
– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, the public, and City officials.
