Job description
This Role
As an Engineering Manager on our Platform team, you will lead and grow a team of engineers who build the shared systems and infrastructure that power our products. As the consistent thread in your engineers’ careers, you invest in their growth and development. You lead through breadth of context rather than architectural ownership, partnering with the technical directors and senior engineers who own system design. While deep technical fluency is required, your leverage comes primarily through people, process, and judgment rather than writing production code.
You Will
Hire, grow, and retain excellent engineers, owning their career development, performance reviews, and compensation input.
Coach engineers with clear, direct feedback that accelerates their growth.
Create clarity around priorities, goals, and execution across multiple workstreams, drawing on technical fluency and understanding of business objectives.
Match engineers to the projects that align with their career goals, technical strengths, and growth trajectories.
Own the hiring bar and candidate experience, running interview loops, trainings, and debriefs.
Assist with team planning, execution, code quality, delivery, and retrospectives to improve team operations.
Drive how the team applies AI across the software lifecycle to raise developer productivity.
Take on targeted, high-priority engineering work that keeps a delivery on track or takes weight off the team.
Keep engineering coherent, spotting opportunities to consolidate and helping teams converge on shared approaches.
Skills & Experience: Core
4+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing engineers.
Strong understanding of modern software development practices and system design, sufficient to guide direction across platform domains and to earn the trust of senior engineers, even outside your area of specialization.
Experience driving execution in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Sound business judgment and excellent communication.
Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy domains.
Skills & Experience: Pluses
Experience leading or building cloud infrastructure, platform, or shared-services systems.
Exposure to the demands of AI/ML workloads, such as LLM-based applications or data-intensive products.
Background in startups or high-growth environments.
