Lead Teacher

ompensation:

Hourly teaching rate (10a-12p) is $45 for the first year of lead teaching, and includes 1-2 hours of prep per paid teaching hour. The hourly rate is higher for candidates with 6+ years of relevant field experience, an M.A. in education, Jewish studies or a related field. In future years and employees qualify for a retirement account and matching after one year of employment.

Hourly non-teaching rate (9a-10a, 12p-1p) is $25/hr. This rate is used for all job duties that do not involve frontal teaching, such as behavior management during Zman Byachad (9:30-10a), childcare, meetings, set up, and training days.

Kitah Zayin (7th grade) Lead Teacher (Sundays): Universe of Obligation: Global Judaism, the Holocaust and Israel/Palestine

We are looking for an educator with experience working with middle school students to teach our class on Israel/Palestine (see this document for a sense of our approach)
This is a great position for someone who wants to support LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse students
The Kitah Zayin educator should be someone who loves making personal connections with students and can balance boundaries and flexibility
Kitah Zayin will have a teen assistant, the lead teacher should be comfortable with and excited about coaching and job development
Work with and adapt existing curriculum on:
Project-based learning, using art, drama and other creative and embodied modalities
Teach sessions on
Jewish Communities around the world
Immigration to I/P from a Global Judaism perspective
The Establishment of the State of Israel/Nakba
Holocaust
Develop rituals and activities to honor the students in their journey towards becoming B’Mitzvah (for example, ritual to celebrate kids the week before their B’Mitzvah)

Kitah Dalet (4th grade) Lead Teacher (Sundays): Bereishit (Genesis)

Work with our curriculum that combines deep Torah learning through chevruta study with experiential storytelling and projects
Create an inclusive learning environment
Teaching the Avot/Imahot stories with dynamic, engaging, and experimental methodology
Create opportunities for project based learning and creative play
