Job description

Essential Functions:

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will:

Lead and perform engineering design for water infrastructure and water resource facilities.

Oversee site investigations and inspections, delivering detailed technical assessments.

Develop design calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.

Evaluate design alternatives, resolve technical challenges, and coordinate across engineering disciplines.

Serve as a key contact with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Guide projects through conceptual planning, permitting, and final design, including plans, specifications, and bid packages.

Provide technical expertise for municipal infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pipelines, and pump/collection systems.

Deliver construction-phase support: bid evaluations, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, progress reports, and change order evaluations.

Make independent assessments of engineering challenges, recommending practical solutions and ensuring compliance with standards.

Mentor junior technical staff and contribute to the growth of the Miami water practice.

Required

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.

12+ of progressive experience in municipal infrastructure or water/wastewater engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Environmental Engineering, registered in Florida (or ability to obtain Florida licensure within 6 months).

Proven ability to manage technical aspects of complex projects and mentor staff.

Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.

Familiarity with municipal permitting and regulatory requirements.

Experience with hydraulic modeling software; proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit is desirable.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).

Ability to travel periodically (approximately 15% or more).

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods working at a computer and performing design-related tasks in an office environment.

Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

Fieldwork may include exposure to outdoor environments and active construction sites.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

Work will primarily take place in an office environment with periodic field and client site visits.

Field conditions may involve variable weather, noise, and other environmental factors typical of treatment plant and construction settings.
