Job description
Duties
Develops, plans, coordinates, and presents command positions on concept, crisis action, and global integration plans affecting joint and interagency partners.
Supports steady state, contingency, and crisis action planning through the expert application of planning principles for developing and reviewing plans, policies, and strategies.
Serves as a planning specialist, performing broad analytical efforts to develop plans, strategy, programs, and policies related to military missions.
Provides interdisciplinary analytical capability to research and resolve broad, undefined, and complex issues of a special or recurring nature.
Develops practical and innovative solutions to identified problems based on knowledge of the organization’s long and short-term goals.
Assists component commands and Security Cooperation Offices with the development and interpretation of strategic plans.
Develops position papers, decision tools, and formal briefings for integration into mission planning at the strategic and operational levels.
Presents formal briefings on the results of analytical projects to senior officials within the command and other external agencies.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Designated Tier 5, Special Sensitive (High Risk). Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment.
This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
This position is designated Mission Essential. During severe weather or other emergencies (natural or man-made disasters), the incumbent must report to or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
