Job description
What you’ll be doing?
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end, including GL management, reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany eliminations across our US and UK entities
Prepare and maintain US GAAP-compliant financial statements; manage the annual audit and the external auditor relationship
Drive revenue recognition under ASC 606 across subscription and usage-based contracts, independently documenting positions and identifying edge cases
Own US compliance end-to-end: federal and state income tax filings (with external advisors), multi-state SALT, payroll taxes, 401(k) administration and Form 5500, and 1099/1042 management
Own UK compliance end-to-end: Companies House filings, CT600, PAYE and RTI submissions, P11D(b), workplace pension and auto-enrolment, VAT returns, and ERS reporting for equity awards
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, multi-currency cash, and bank reconciliations
Establish and enforce accounting policies and internal controls appropriate to a scaling SaaS business
Own the ERP and accounting systems; identify and drive improvements to the close workflow and reporting infrastructure
Partner with FP&A on chart of accounts structure and cost center design so reporting reflects how the business actually operates
What you’ll need?
Extenstive progressive accounting experience, the substantial majority in-house at technology companies; we are looking for someone who has operated as an owner, not an advisor
Extensive experience with both traditional SaaS and transactional revenue models (usage-based, eCPM, marketplace, etc.) — ideally at companies with $50M+ in revenue
Demonstrable, hands-on command of both US GAAP and UK statutory reporting — this is not a theoretical requirement; you should have filed CT600s and P11Ds yourself
Ad tech (SSP, DSP, programmatic media, etc.) experience a strong plus; additional transactional model exposure (payment processing, revenue-share structures) is a meaningful differentiator
Early-career public accounting experience is a plus; candidates whose background is primarily audit or advisory will not be the right fit
CPA a plus but not required; ACA/ACCA qualification a meaningful differentiator given the UK scope of this role
Experience of multi-entity, international groups
Advanced Excel and ERP skills (NetSuite preferred); familiarity with Stripe, Maxio/Chargebee, or similar billing platforms a plus
Technically precise with strong judgment on when to own a position internally versus when to escalate to external counsel
To be as engaged by the business as you are by your close checklist
