Job description
Role and Responsibilities
To be considered, the Project Designer, FF&E should demonstrate skills in Design, Leadership and Management, as below:
Design
Independently design and develop smaller project elements, applying innovative and functional design solutions that support project goals, client expectations, and the overall design intent.
Stay informed on relevant design trends, materials, and products, applying general awareness to support project work
Research products, materials, and suppliers, supporting project selections with accurate information and developing knowledge of vendor offering
Prepare drawings, specifications, and documentation that are clear, accurate, coordinated, and consistent with established standards while ensuring clarity of information
Apply building codes and regulations independently within project work, coordinating material selections and construction techniques while ensuring alignment with established standards and project requirements
Conduct QA/QC reviews of own work to maintain accuracy and alignment with established standards
Support with QA/QC reviews of specifications and project components, ensuring accuracy and alignment with standards while developing a deeper understanding of custom furniture, materials, and detailing through guided review
Contribute content to the global FF&E newsletter by sharing relevant products, materials, supplier updates, and project insights.
Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing, lead times, and samples for project needs, ensuring accurate and timely information.
Contribute to FF&E installation preparation, coordination, and styling activities, helping track products, resolve issues, and ensure deliverables are organized, accurate, and ready for execution
Leadership
Contribute to design dialogue by sharing knowledge, ideas, and project insights with team members
Participate in FF&E Committee meetings, contributing ideas, insights, and project-related input
Engage in studio culture and contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment
Maintain effective working relationships with team members, vendors, and consultants
Share knowledge and lessons learned with team members regarding material selection, durability requirements, budget considerations, and code compliance
Management
Support in maintaining an organized and up-to-date materials library
Manage time effectively across tasks and projects, utilizing tools (e.g., Ajera) to track work accurately
Contribute to project styling, installation preparation, and studio initiatives, ensuring deliverables are organized, accurate, and ready for execution
Support procurement activities by obtaining pricing, lead times, samples, and product information, ensuring FF&E selections are accurately communicated and documented
Utilize studio tools, systems, and databases to support project delivery and information management
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be in possession of an Interior Design Diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of interior design experience
Hospitality, Hotel, Food & Beverage, or Multi-Unit Residential experience preferred
Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office 365, and specification software
Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
