Job description
The Role
This is a hands-on editorial leadership role for someone who can operate like the Head of Content at a modern AI media company. You will set AlphaSignal’s editorial direction across Pro, the free newsletter, social, and new formats. You will manage a team of technical writers and social media creators, while also writing, editing, publishing, and setting the standard yourself.
The core mandate is simple: build a premium content product that engineers and technical AI leaders will pay for, and build an editorial engine that makes AlphaSignal impossible to ignore.
You combine editorial judgment, technical fluency, product thinking, and a sharp distribution instinct. When a major AI development lands, you know whether the right response is a fast news post, a Pro deep dive, a technical explainer, an interview, a research brief, a social series, a notebook, or a tool.
What You’ll Own
Build AlphaSignal Pro into a premium content product. Define the editorial strategy, recurring formats, cadence, and member value that give AI engineers and technical leaders a reason to subscribe and stay subscribed.
Lead the editorial engine. Manage and develop our technical writers and two social media managers. Set clear briefs, a high quality bar, and an operating rhythm that lets the team move quickly without sacrificing accuracy.
Set AlphaSignal’s voice across the internet. Own the editorial direction across the newsletter, website, X, LinkedIn, and emerging channels. Make every piece of content clear, technically credible, useful, and unmistakably AlphaSignal.
Turn AI developments into high-value content and products. Decide the best response to major AI news, research, models, and tools: a post, Pro deep dive, explainer, interview, research brief, social series, live conversation, or practical resource.
Grow the business through content. Partner with Growth and Product to use content to drive reach, engagement, Pro conversion, and retention. Use performance and audience data to double down on formats that work and retire the ones that do not.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years in AI media, editorial, developer education, DevRel, or content leadership. You have owned a publication, newsletter, technical content program, or audience.
Technical AI fluency. You can credibly cover AI for engineers, understand the major concepts and ecosystem, and separate meaningful technical developments from marketing noise.
Premium-content and product instinct. You have built, scaled, or meaningfully contributed to a paid newsletter, subscription, membership, course, research product, or other content business.
A strong editorial and people leader. You can write and edit excellent work yourself, manage writers and social talent, give clear feedback, and set a consistently high quality bar.
A distribution and performance mindset. You know how to make content travel across X and LinkedIn, and use audience, engagement, conversion, and retention data to improve the content engine.
