ABOUT THE POSITION
The Development Coordinator joins Congregation Rodeph Sholom during a period of continued growth and philanthropic momentum. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position plays an integral role in supporting the synagogue’s fundraising efforts by helping cultivate meaningful relationships with congregants and donors while ensuring the efficient operation of the Development Department.
The Development Department is responsible for a diverse portfolio of fundraising initiatives, including the Annual Appeal, CRS Feeds, foundation and corporate giving, government grants, planned giving, special events, and donor stewardship.
The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable. They enjoy managing multiple priorities, take ownership of their work, and are committed to providing exceptional service to congregants, donors, volunteers, clergy, and colleagues. This individual exercises sound judgment, manages confidential information with discretion, and is equally comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Coordinator serves as a central member of the Development team and is responsible for supporting the successful execution of fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, database management, and departmental operations.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Collaborate with clergy, staff, volunteers, and lay leadership to support meaningful engagement with congregants, donors, and supporters.
Coordinate donor stewardship and cultivation activities, including Annual Appeal Caller Nights, cultivation events, stewardship gatherings, recognition opportunities, and other fundraising initiatives.
Serve as a primary point of contact for development-related inquiries, providing responsive, professional, and welcoming service to congregants and donors.
Assist with donor communications, acknowledgments, stewardship materials, and outreach efforts that strengthen philanthropic engagement.

Support the planning, coordination, and execution of key fundraising initiatives, including:
Annual Appeal
CRS Feeds
Refugee & Immigration Support
Israel Support Initiatives
Roll of Remembrance
Yahrzeit Giving
Shireinu
Foundation, corporate, and government grant activity
Additional fundraising initiatives and special projects throughout the year.
Department Operations
Own the annual planning, coordination, and execution of the Yahrzeit and Roll of Remembrance processes, ensuring accuracy, timely production, and effective collaboration across departments.
Maintain ownership of the Development Department calendar, proactively managing fundraising milestones, project timelines, meetings, recurring initiatives, and critical deadlines.
Coordinate departmental meetings, mailings, event logistics, project schedules, and administrative workflows that support the department’s success.
Database & Gift Administration
Own the integrity and accuracy of Development data within Salesforce, ensuring congregant and donor records, household relationships, gift history, pledges, acknowledgments, tribute information, and related records are complete, accurate, and current.
Monitor database quality, identify discrepancies, recommend improvements, and maintain best practices for data management and reporting.
Manage gift processing and pledge administration, including invoicing, payment tracking, acknowledgments, tribute notifications, and reconciliation.
Partner with the Business Office to ensure billing accuracy, timely financial reporting, and an exceptional donor experience.
Reporting & Analytics
Prepare reports, dashboards, mailing lists, gift analyses, and fundraising metrics that support campaign planning, donor stewardship, and leadership decision-making.
Assist with prospect research, donor segmentation, and fundraising analytics as needed.
Financial & Administrative Operations
Process departmental invoices, purchase requests, expense reports, and vendor payments.
Maintain departmental files, records, supplies, and operational procedures.
Support event logistics, meeting preparation, and special projects as assigned by the Director of Development.
Collaboration & Professionalism
Partner closely with clergy and colleagues across Membership, Finance, Communications, Operations, and other departments to ensure coordinated execution of fundraising initiatives and congregational events.
Handle sensitive donor, financial, and congregational information with the highest degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to assume additional responsibilities in support of the department’s evolving priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Three to five years of professional experience in development, nonprofit administration, advancement services, customer service, or a related field.
Experience working with CRM/database systems; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Zoom and Microsoft Teams required; familiarity with Monday.com and Concur is a plus.
Familiarity with the Jewish calendar, holidays, customs, and lifecycle events is preferred.
