Job description

Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily accounting, finance operations
Annual operating budget of approximately $10 million
Oversee general ledger, month-end, year-end, trend analysis and other financial reports
Assess and establish operational controls and reports for all aspects of the school’s financial management under the direction of the Executive Director
Ensure compliance with all accounting, tax, payroll, and retirement plan regulations
Assume other HR duties
Work with Executive Director on budget and reports to the Finance Committee

Significant Projects:

Work closely with the Executive Director and the Technology Development Coordinator on the implementation of a new software system for accurate and timely reporting
Develop a full accounting software conversion to a new cloud-based accounting system and integration with the development & administration office system
Oversee school’s retirement plan including communication with employees of any changes
Transition the school to an online system for registration, enrollment contracts and tuition bills to improve the efficiency of the system for the school’s parents
Work closely with the principal and department heads to assist with fiscal budget
Work on grants and government filings with the Executive Director

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience preferably in the non-profit sector; CPA a plus

Required Experience Skills:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and staff
Proficiency in Sage, Blackbaud Accounting software or any other accounting software, Parent Locker (not required)
Experience in an accounting firm helpful
Expertise in reviewing financial statements
Great interpersonal skills and a passion for providing excellent service
Able to work independently and to prioritize competing demands
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and research skills
Proactive, responsible and solution-oriented
Assume ownership for responsibilities listed above
High level of attention to detail and accuracy while keeping a ‘big picture’ focus
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Pleasant, easygoing personality with a positive, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude
Expertise in Excel along with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent organizational skills
Strong, confident written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and support complex, high-value credit decisions
