Position Overview

The Events Manager will coordinate logistics and operations of meetings, programs and special events. They will work with staff, congregants and outside clients and vendors to support the mission of the Temple including but not limited to creating a warm, inviting atmosphere while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and organization. We place great emphasis on the quality of our relationships. In many cases, the Events Manager will be the “face” of the Temple for customers and vendors and therefore, must reflect these values.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service to congregants and outside clients and coordinate well with clergy, executives and other staff members of the Temple.
Coordinate and facilitate all logistics and operations of meetings, services, programs and special events. Events can include, but are not limited to religious services, school events, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, meetings, concerts, dinners, rentals to outside entities.
Implement the sales strategy for events at the Resnick Campus including prompt response to event inquiries, showing of event spaces, preparation and negotiation of cost estimates of rental contracts for clients.
Work with the Communications Team to manage websites with updated rental and other pertinent event information.
Schedule and oversee the set-up, execution, and breakdown of meetings, programs, and special events.
Create and distribute information to appropriate support departments, such as security or facilities, and vendors as needed.
Develop relationships with vendors, support teams, caterers to ensure streamlined communication and successful execution of each event.
Oversee the reservation system for the Resnick Campus, the onsite calendar and daily needs of the venue.
Meet with the other members of the Events Team on at least a weekly basis and coordinate and communicate with them often and well.
Work events at other campuses as needed.

Hours

This is an exempt position and will need to supervise others on an as-needed basis depending on event size.
Friday nights are a must with additional evening and weekend hours as needed.
Availability to work on religious holidays.

Specific Requirements

Bachelor of Arts degree.
Three to five years of event planning experience with a proven track record in event management and meeting sales goals.
Ability to work under pressure.
The ability to problem solve and work independently in a changing and multi-tasking environment.
Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to interact appropriately with diverse groups of people.
Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Food and beverage experience desired.
Experience with calendar and/or space management programs is a plus.
