Job description
Primary Responsibilities
Executive & Administrative Support
Provide administrative and calendar support to the Rabbi and Executive Director.
Prepare correspondence, meeting materials, reports, mailings, and other administrative documents.
Coordinate meetings, schedules, and office activities.
Assist clergy and professional staff with day-to-day administrative needs and special projects.
Congregant Services
Serve as a warm, welcoming, and professional first point of contact for congregants, prospective members, visitors, and community members.
Maintain accurate membership records and support membership-related administrative processes.
Respond to inquires by phone, email, and in person in a timely and professional manner.
Assist with synagogue programs, events, High Holiday preparations, and seasonal initiatives.
Support clergy, professional staff, committees, and lay leadership in providing an exceptional congregational experience.
Communications & Social Media
Help develop and coordinate Temple Beth Sholom’s communications strategy across print, email, website, and social media platforms.
Create, schedule, and maintain engaging content that highlights worship, educational programs, lifecycle events, volunteer opportunities, community celebrations, and synagogue life.
Collaborate with clergy, staff, and lay leadership to maintain a communications calendar and identify meaningful stories to share with the congregation and the broader community.
Help strengthen Temple Beth Sholom’s visibility, engagement, and outreach through thoughtful, consistent, and mission-driven communications.
Monitor and maintain the Temple’s social media presence, ensuring content is timely, accurate, and reflective of the Temple’s values and community.
Office Administration
Help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the synagogue office.
Maintain organized electronic and paper records.
Assist with improving office procedures, administrative systems, and workflows.
Learn and utilize Temple software systems, including membership management platforms.
Handle confidential congregational information with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s Degree.
Three or more years of professional administrative, office, customer service, communications, or operations experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a collaborative team member.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and calendar management.
Comfort learning new software and technology platforms.
Preferred
Experience creating and managing communications or social media content for an organization, school, nonprofit, congregation, or business.
Experience with membership databases or CRM software (ShulCloud experience is a plus.)
Experience working in a synagogue, nonprofit organization, educational institution, or membership-based organization is desirable but not required.
