Associate Scientist II, Surveillance and Health Equity Science

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

Analyzes, interprets, and publisheshigh-impact research articles and/or Facts & Figures.65%.

Provide analytical and technical support to senior staff members inSPHeReand Discovery Pillar. 10%

Collaborateswithinternal and external subject matter experts.10%

Publicizesresearch findings by presenting at scientific conferences and by speaking with the media. 5%

Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data presented inscientificmanuscriptsandFacts & Figures Publicationand scientific manuscripts(e.g., proofreading text and data checking).5%

Document analytic programs and results in an organized, dated, and clearly labeled form for future reference.5%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required:​Master’s Degree​orequivalentamount of experience and education inEpidemiology,Public Health,Health Policy,Health Economics,Biostatistics,andDemography.

Preferred Degree:​Master’s Degree​

Years of experience:Five to eightyears’ experiencein statistical, medical, or biologic research.Cancer screening, early detection, and risk factor surveillance, and survey research experiencehighlydesirable

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

5 years of experience in statistical, medical, or biologic research

SAS or related statistical software (R, Stata, SUDAAN, SEER*Stat)

Cancer screening, early detection, risk factor surveillance, and survey research experience

Familiarity with large databases (NHIS, BRFSS, SEER, etc.)

Good communicationskills.

Attention to detail with numbers and calculations.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may require up to 5% travel for conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials up to 5lbs
