Job description

The Role

We’re hiring our first VP of Marketing – someone who has built and led demand-focused marketing for a technical product, knows the developer ecosystem from the inside, and has the range to operate across self-serve growth and enterprise pipeline in the same week.

You’ll report directly to the CEO and own marketing end to end. That means inheriting a growing base of developer users and building the motion that turns it into a real revenue engine – both expanding what’s already working on the self-serve side and standing up the enterprise layer on top of it. This is a builder role as much as a leadership role. You’ll be hiring a team, but you’ll also be in the weeds.

What You’ll Own

Demand generation and pipeline

Own the full funnel from awareness to pipeline – paid, SEO, lifecycle, content, events, and partnerships
Build the measurement infrastructure to know, down to the dollar, what a qualified lead costs and which channels are producing real pipeline
Direct a high-velocity experimentation cadence: hypotheses, tests, honest reads on results, and quick decisions on what to scale
The enterprise motion

Architect the marketing foundation that supports a sales-led motion layered on top of self-serve – account-based plays, outbound support, case studies, analyst relations, and the content that moves enterprise buyers
Partner closely with sales on lead scoring, handoff criteria, and targeted account plays for larger logos
Build the positioning and materials that make Sent legible to an enterprise buyer without alienating the developer who found it on their own
Developer marketing

Own how Sent shows up in the developer ecosystem – the channels, communities, and publications that technical buyers actually trust
Know which channels are worth owning (Hacker News, X, newsletters, podcasts, GitHub) and build repeatable acquisition loops around them
Brand and positioning

Define and sharpen how Sent is positioned as the market evolves – against incumbents, against point solutions, and as new channels come online
Ensure every surface Sent touches – docs, landing pages, campaigns, sales decks – reflects a consistent, credible point of view

What You Bring

7+ years in marketing, with meaningful time in demand generation or growth at a developer-first, API, or infrastructure company
You’ve taken a technical product upmarket – you know what it takes to build an enterprise motion on top of a self-serve base and you’ve done it before
You’ve carried a pipeline number and hit it, and you can show exactly which bets got you there
You’re comfortable in the developer ecosystem – you understand how these communities behave, what earns credibility, and what gets ignored
Technical enough to hold your own: you’ve worked with APIs, you understand how developers think, and you don’t need things translated for you
You’ve built and led small, high-output marketing teams and know how to hire people better than you in their discipline
Strong instincts on both the quantitative side (CAC, payback, conversion rates) and the qualitative side (positioning, narrative, brand)
Experience with messaging, telecom, or API infrastructure is a strong plus
