Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

Partner with the CEO to develop and execute the organization’s comprehensive advancement strategy.
Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy that integrates major gifts, annual giving, institutional giving, the organization’s signature fundraising events, donor stewardship, and volunteer engagement.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board on philanthropy, fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and long-term advancement priorities.
Work closely with the Board of Directors and volunteer leadership to strengthen engagement and philanthropic support.
Establish clear goals, priorities, key performance indicators, and measures of success for the Advancement department.
Partner across the organization to ensure advancement efforts support agency-wide priorities and strategic initiatives.

Philanthropy & Relationship Management

Build, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, volunteer leaders, and other philanthropic stakeholders.
Personally, lead the organization’s highest-value donor relationships and major philanthropic opportunities.
Develop strategies that move prospective donors from initial engagement to long-term philanthropic investment.
Partner with the CEO, Board members, and volunteer leaders on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
Provide strategic leadership for annual fundraising campaigns and institutional giving efforts.
Provide executive leadership for the organization’s signature fundraising events, ensuring they strengthen donor relationships, stewardship, volunteer engagement, and philanthropic revenue.
Oversee the planning, execution, financial performance, and long-term strategy for all Advancement-led fundraising events, working in partnership with staff, volunteer leadership, and event committees to deliver exceptional experiences and fundraising results.
Lead the Major Gifts, Institutional Giving, and Special Events teams, ensuring each function operates in alignment with the organization’s overall advancement strategy and fundraising goals.
Ensure every donor interaction reflects professionalism, gratitude, and exceptional stewardship.

Community & Donor Engagement

Serve as a visible ambassador for Sid Jacobson JCC with donors, volunteers, and philanthropic partners.
Represent the organization at fundraising events, donor cultivation activities, philanthropic gatherings, and other events that support advancement goals.
Build strong relationships with donors, foundations, corporate partners, and volunteer leaders that strengthen long-term philanthropic support.
Partner closely with the Managing Director of Community Engagement and other organizational leaders to ensure advancement efforts complement broader community engagement initiatives.
Stay informed about trends and best practices in philanthropy and nonprofit fundraising.

Team Leadership

Lead and develop the Advancement team, including Major Gifts, Institutional Giving, Special Events, Donor Stewardship, Volunteer Engagement, and Advancement Operations.
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for each function while developing a high-performing, collaborative team.
Mentor, coach, and develop staff while creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth.
Foster an environment where team members are supported, challenged, and empowered to perform at their highest level.
Partner across departments to strengthen fundraising efforts and donor engagement.

Operational Excellence

Oversee advancement operations, fundraising reporting, budgets, institutional giving, donor stewardship, CRM systems, prospect management, and fundraising analytics.
Ensure donor records, acknowledgements, recognition, communications, and stewardship activities are accurate, timely, and thoughtfully executed.
Monitor fundraising performance and use data to evaluate outcomes, identify opportunities, and inform strategic decision-making.
Lead with a high level of organization and attention to detail, recognizing that every interaction contributes to the donor experience and the organization’s reputation.
Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, ethical standards, grant requirements, and organizational policies.

The ideal candidate will bring:

Progressive leadership experience in advancement, philanthropy, development, or nonprofit fundraising.
Demonstrated success securing major gifts and growing philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and community partners.
Experience leading comprehensive fundraising programs that include major gifts, annual giving, institutional giving, grants, special events, donor stewardship, volunteer engagement, and advancement operations.
Experience partnering with executive leadership, Boards of Directors, volunteer leaders, and donors.
Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience managing fundraising budgets, forecasting revenue, and interpreting fundraising metrics.
An understanding of the Jewish nonprofit community and relationship-based philanthropy is strongly preferred.
Excellent judgment, professionalism, emotional intelligence, discretion, and executive presence.
Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow through.
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to think strategically while remaining hands on when needed.
Bachelor’s degree required.
