The Position
Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Financial Analyst supports the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Financial Reporting functions within the Corporate Finance team. The role is responsible for assisting with the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of financial information, including month-end reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
The Financial Analyst works collaboratively with senior finance team members and operational finance partners to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial data, while developing a strong understanding of corporate finance processes and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports, including variance analysis and commentary;
Support the preparation and consolidation of quarterly forecasts and the annual budget process;
Assist with quarterly consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, and analytical reports;
Support regional and corporate consolidation, including cash flow analysis;
Liaise with operational finance teams to gather financial data and support interpretation of submissions;
Assist in the preparation of materials for senior management reviews and internal reporting;
Support the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and completion of account reconciliations;
Help ensure accuracy and consistency across internal financial reports and supporting schedules;
Maintain compliance with established internal controls and assist with documentation updates as required;
Support process improvement initiatives and documentation of finance procedures and standards;
Assist with the preparation of ad hoc analytical materials and schedules for internal stakeholders and external parties as needed;
Participate in system testing and support finance system enhancements or upgrades as a business user; and
Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field required;
CPA designation or CFA designation preferred;
3-5 years of related work experience in financial reporting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), audit or related role;
Mining experience is an asset, but is not required;
Advanced user of Excel (Pivot tables, formulas, graphs, v-lookups, links between spreadsheets);
Strong Analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to collaborate cross functionally;
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams;
Well-organized, self-motivated, and eager to learn; and
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end and planning cycles.
