Editing Resident

Responsibilities:

Edit articles from desks across the newsroom, including breaking news and features
Participate in training seminars designed for the residency, and receive regular feedback
Collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom on different stories and story forms
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world

Basic Qualifications:

At least two years of professional journalism experience outside of school publications and internships. Journalists with more than seven years of experience will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid news judgment, and a firm grasp of grammar and fact-checking
Professional experience editing and assigning news articles

You must be authorized to work in the United States. We will not sponsor work visas for the residency.

The program’s goal is to train the next generation of editors for the broader industry. There is no guarantee of a full-time position upon the program’s completion. We will offer support to editors in their search for full-time opportunities.
