Assistant Mechanical Engineering

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance: Assist in storing, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating lab equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure they are in safe and working condition.
Student Support: Provide guidance and technical assistance to students on the proper use of tools and equipment, helping them troubleshoot issues and advising on design, operation, and best practices.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety inspections and teaching Safety and Basic Use training modules.
Space Organization: Assist in organizing and maintaining a clean, orderly, and efficient workspace, including the storage of tools and materials.
Shop Support: Help plan and execute workshops, classes, and events, collaborating with instructors and managing the setup and breakdown of equipment, as well as researching and learning new software and processes.
Administrative Duties: Assist the Lab Manager in scheduling, tool inventory, equipment acquisition, etc.
Engagement: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging collaboration and knowledgesharing among students.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in using a variety of tools and machinery, including CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, and woodworking tools.
Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety standards and best practices in a lab or workshop setting.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain a well-organized workspace.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and provide creative solutions to challenges.
