Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer, Communications to join our team!
This position performs complex engineering duties and manages the activities and projects associated with the design, operation, and/or maintenance of equipment and/or systems related to assigned work (e.g., electrical, mechanical signals, or communications, etc.). The role provides overall engineering expertise, support and guidance to maintenance staff on a 24-hour basis.
What You Will Do
Provide Project Management support.
Provide technical and engineering support and expertise to appropriate parties/staff as required.
Provide capital and operating design and engineering support.
Supervise operations of the Section by planning, directing and coordinating activities of staff.
Provide back up support to the department/section as required.
Prepare documents, presentations, and reports for use by the department/section, and distribute to the appropriate parties in accordance with established standards.
Provide a coordination role for projects managed by the department/section.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
Your educational background will consist of the completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical/Electronic Engineering) or the equivalent, combined with extensive directly related work experience.
Your registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) as a licensed Engineer is mandatory.
Your application will demonstrate at least 5 years of related engineering experience, including recent practical experience with the design, integration, testing, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of analog and digital Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). This includes RF signal propagation and coverage analysis, base station and head-end equipment, fiber optic and coaxial distribution networks, RF testing and diagnostic equipment, networked communications systems, real-time monitoring applications, and other associated infrastructure and technologies utilized and supported by transit agencies.
You have sound knowledge of electrical engineering and design principles, methods and practices.
Strong knowledge of project management concepts and practices and have the ability to carry out and/or coordinate projects and studies
Sound judgement, well-developed analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, verbal communication and technical report writing skills
Ability to plan, coordinate and direct activities of personnel assisting in communications design work
Ability to provide direction to consultants and contractors engaged in associated activities
Must have or must develop knowledge of Operations policies and procedures applicable to the work performed
Successful candidate must attend and successfully complete the Training Department’s program for Subway Rulebook Certification to be able to work at track level.

The Communication Engineering team operates in a hybrid work environment, combining remote work with in-office collaboration. Team members are typically expected to work from our Hillcrest location (1138 Bathurst Street, Toronto). However, on occasion you will be required to visit work sites based on the assigned work.
