Job description

The Social Media and Communications Manager will oversee the congregation’s communications and marketing activities, including digital content creation, graphic design, social media management and website content updates. This role requires strong design and writing skills and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and passionate about building community through effective communications. This position reports to the synagogue’s Executive Director and works closely with the senior staff, the VP of Marketing and key congregant event stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

Create and manage weekly e-newsletters, announcements, and other internal congregational communications.
Write and edit clear and engaging content for various communication channels.
Support leadership and staff in crafting messaging for events, initiatives, and special programs.

Graphic Design & Creative Development

Generate engaging and relevant content for various modes of communication, including social media posts and the synagogue website.
Create visually appealing graphics for both online and offline promotional materials.
Oversee the weekly communications to the congregation and develop targeted marketing for specific events.
Maintain and promote brand consistency across all communication materials.

Digital & Web Management

Maintain and update the congregation’s website with current content, images, and event information.
Manage and generate content for social media platforms to enhance the synagogue's digital presence.
Track communications performance using basic analytics tools to ensure continuous improvement.
Monitor social media trends and engage with the community through comments and messages.

Administrative & Collaborative Duties

Work closely with clergy, senior staff, and lay leaders to support the synagogue’s mission and goals.
Coordinate communications needs for events, holidays, and community programs.
Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
