Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled Java Developer to support a mission-critical program for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Java development, front-end web technologies, and experience working within secure, enterprise environments. This role will collaborate closely with technical leads, system engineers, and other developers to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions.

Candidate will be part of a team responsible for all aspects of system development and maintenance including requirements gathering, system analysis and design, documentation, coding, testing, implementation, monitoring production jobs, researching and resolving production problems, dealing with end users and hosting sites to resolve issues and providing technical support to end users and other developers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications supporting DoD systems
• Implement front-end features using JavaScript and CSS
• Work with Apache Struts frameworks to enhance and maintain existing applications
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects in a timely manner
• Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to meet project milestones and ensure quality
• Follow DoD security and development standards, documentation requirements, and best practices

This position is 100% Remote.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

US Citizenship
Active Public Trust Clearance, or ability to obtain one
5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
Strong hands-on experience with:
Java
JavaScript
CSS
Apache Struts
Proficiency in object-oriented programming and enterprise application development
Experience with version control tools
Solid understanding of secure coding practices and application hardening

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting DoD or other federal programs
Familiarity with JSP, Tomcat, or related Java web technologies
Knowledge of Agile methodologies
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
