Job description
Role
We are looking for a Principal Peering Coordinator to join our team. This is a Remote (nearby international airports) role, reporting to the VP, Infrastructure Ecosystems & Network in the Zero Trust Exchange department. The core purpose of this role is to manage and build Zscaler’s peering relationships for our global Zero Trust Platform, including public and private exchanges as well as private network interconnections. You will travel to represent Zscaler at key peering forums, conferences, and operational events globally. Success requires a strong understanding of the business drivers of network peering along with its contractual and legal frameworks.
What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
Facilitate and manage Zscaler’s global peering footprint in coordination with the network engineering team
Identify strategic new peering partners in new and existing markets to improve Zscaler’s global connectivity
Coordinate with legal teams to negotiate and sign or change peering agreements with peering partners
Work with cross-functional network architectural and procurement teams to enable new peering connectivity globally
Who You Are (Success Profile)
You think at scale. You connect your day-to-day work to our larger global mission, building network solutions and processes that are designed to last and support a high-growth, global organization.
You are a problem-solver. You seek out complex infrastructure challenges and are energized by finding solutions, knowing that solving the hardest network problems delivers the highest global impact.
You act like an owner. You navigate seamlessly between high-level peering strategy and hands-on execution, operating with deep integrity because you genuinely care about the long-term outcomes of our global connectivity.
You are a high-trust collaborator. You embrace our challenge culture by giving and receiving feedback openly, building trust across cross-functional legal, procurement, and engineering teams to achieve collective success.
You thrive in ambiguity. You are comfortable building the path as you walk it, seeing the evolving landscape of global network peering not as a hindrance, but as raw material to create a more connected platform.
What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
Extensive knowledge of general practices of Public Internet Exchanges and Private Peering
Expertise in identifying strategic peering partners in new and existing locations via data and industry knowledge
Expert understanding of all technical mechanisms needed to peer to networks at both the physical and logical levels
Minimum 8 years of experience in peering networks at common exchange points
Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Reasonable understanding of BGP protocol, router configurations, and technical troubleshooting to diagnose new peering sessions and support network engineering teams
Robust knowledge of cost calculations, financial modeling, and balance metrics across different types of peering and transit agreements
Multilingual capability to effectively engage with diverse international peering partners
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
