Job Summary
Reporting into the group Global Banking COO team, the Executive Director Americas Banking COO supports the Banking business comprising Global Banking and Syndicate & Portfolio Management (S&PM) in the development and implementation of the business strategy, organisational re-alignments, accountabilities and processes to capture growth opportunities aligned to strategic direction of the business in a safe and sustainable manner.

The role will support the Banking Heads in Americas as a regional COO working closely with group Banking COOs, Business Risk Managers (BRM) and function stakeholders. Responsibilities include business enablement, business risk management, local governance, conduct and supervision, change management including regulatory implementation, and dealing room management. The position plays a pivotal role in driving initiatives which enhance operational efficiency, as well as ensures governance and compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• First point of contact in Global Banking COO for senior Global Banking and S&PM leadership in the Americas, including regional Capital Markets Heads, and for the Global Banking Americas Head (as S24) to support the execution and implementation of country, products and regional Banking strategy and business initiatives.

Business
• Execution and delivery of the Banking agenda locally/regionally. Assist the Banking Head S24 with local business requirements e.g. Management Board meetings / presentations, yearly Strategy papers (also applicable to Strategy).
• Partner with local support functions and stakeholders to unblock any business issues.
• Be the “connector” between global and local and export best practices.
• Driving and management of a prudent cost culture.
• Assist the business in the roll-out of new Banking products and services, in line with the group strategy.
• Responsible for business support and enablement for GB products locally with the support of the global Business Managers for each product vertical.

Processes
• Continuously seek out process simplification and process re-engineering opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
• Keep up to date with local regulations to assess impact / business opportunities and manage any changes to business processes and infrastructure.

People & Talent
• Support local / regional leadership as first point of contact for all Global Banking and S&PM matters with the ability to mobilise local Banking COO resources to support incoming (regular and ad hoc) requests.

Risk Management
• Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks in-country and provide Country Process Owner support and in accordance with the Banking and Markets Support and Governance Model / Memorandum of Understanding.
• Execute controls, monitor, report and escalate operational risks where appropriate in-country/clusters, including for S24 supervision.

Governance
• Operate effective supervision of Banking staff, where applicable.
• Ensuring Banking staff adhere to internal and external processes and procedures, and governance practices set out by the Country risk committees.
• Support the Banking business heads in product governance matters, for eg. country addendum updates and new products approvals.
• Support Banking business heads in supervising and coordinating in-country audits
• Provide business management support, eg. capacity planning, business continuity, access controls, Service Level Agreements, licensing, etc.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree
• 10+ years of relevant business management/COO experience ideally at a global banking institution
