CFO / Controller

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: 175k + Bonus + Benefits
Full time in office

A growing financial and workforce solutions organization is seeking a hands-on CFO / Controller to oversee accounting, financial operations, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong leader who can provide strategic financial guidance while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
  • Oversee compliance, tax-related operations, audits, banking relationships, and internal controls.
  • Manage regulatory reporting and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Develop financial reporting, KPIs, and performance metrics to support executive decision-making.
  • Improve operational workflows, scalability, and process efficiency across multiple departments.
  • Lead and develop finance and compliance teams, establishing accountability and best practices.
  • Implement and optimize systems, automation, and reporting tools.
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and risk management.

Qualifications

  • CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Strong background in compliance-heavy, multi-state environments.
  • Experience overseeing accounting operations, tax compliance, financial controls, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to build teams, improve workflows, and support organizational growth.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on mentality with the ability to balance strategic oversight and operational execution.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a highly operational finance leader who can build scalable processes, strengthen controls, improve efficiencies, and serve as a key partner to executive leadership. Experience managing complex compliance, financial operations, and multi-state business environments is highly preferred.
