Middle School Math and Science Long Term Substitute

Job description

Bernard Zell has an opening for a warm educator to serve as a Long-term Substitute for middle school mathematics and science, available August 2026 for an August through December assignment. The ideal candidate is an experienced math and science educator who loves working with middle school students, has strong interpersonal and communication skills, is a collaborative team player, and is comfortable integrating math with technology, science and other subjects. Responsibilities: • Carry out curriculum in the core content areas of math and science • Create and maintain a classroom community that fosters a safe, productive and respectful learning environment • Observe and assess student performance and partner with families on student progress • Work collaboratively within Student Services and across the school, supporting students in literacy, math and executive functioning • Serve as an Advisor to a small group of students, providing support and serving as the primary communication link among faculty, students and families • Lunch and recess supervision, weekly Tefillah and chaperoning field trips Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred • Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience required • Experience providing a nurturing, creative and inclusive environment for students • Appreciation of a diverse, pluralistic Jewish community Compensation: $195 per day.
