Job description
The JCC East Bay seeks a Jewish and Hebrew Lead Preschool Teacher (12+ Units), reporting to the Director of Early Childhood Education. The Lead Teacher creates a warm, welcoming environment enriched by a developmentally and culturally appropriate emergent curriculum that integrates Jewish values, traditions, and age-appropriate Hebrew language learning using engaging, modern-language teaching techniques. Responsibilities: • Develop inquiry-based curriculum that integrates Jewish community, values, traditions, and contemporary Israeli Hebrew through songs, play, and routine • Establish and maintain a safe, well-organized, healthy classroom and appropriate staff-to-child ratios • Observe and assess each child's development and share observations with families • Communicate with parents through daily conversation, conferences, and a classroom newsletter • Mentor colleagues and pursue ongoing Hebrew and Judaic education training Qualifications: • 1–2 years of experience in an ECE setting and 24 or more completed ECE units • Bachelor's or Associate's degree highly preferred; background in Jewish and Hebrew education strongly preferred, Hebrew fluency a plus • First Aid and CPR certification; knowledge of current ECE research and practices • Commitment to the JCC East Bay mission and to Jewish community, values, and traditions Salary: $30.53–$32.09 per hour ($55,000–$65,000).
